Don’t worry about the light coating of white stuff on the lawn, we are in the home stretch as far as Winter is concerned with the official start to Spring slated for 20 March 2018. You know what that means; very soon docks will start to make a splash at your home-port. (last year in March pictured below)
Live, Love, Launch..
Once the docks go in, the Launch Orders will start arriving at a mailbox near you. As the official start to the Launch season is April 1st (weather permitting), though we always recommend you hold off till the later part of April or into May as Mother Nature can still throw us some curve-balls temperature wise.
What can you do in the meantime?
Think warm thoughts!.. That and make sure you have a dock secured for your boat if you haven’t already. We are now Open Saturdays from 10am to 3pm and have a good selection to choose from. Also, now would be a good time to check on things like your boat registration as those expire on March 1st, best to get your paperwork done now so your boat is ready for the open seas. Contact us if you have any questions or need assistance.
The Sun will soon rise on a new boating season…
And we can’t wait, hope to see you dockside at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina!
“R” hours and yours….
With the coming of March within days of today, we are changing hours here at your home-port. Starting March 3rd we will be open in the marine store Saturdays from 10-3, to serve you better.
Looking to make a splash?
Now that February has officially drawn to a close we are hoping you have a chance get out of the house and stop by and see what we have to offer. We would like to show you around and talk boating to see where you boat would like spend the summer. Launch is drawing closer by the day.
Plus the coffee is on us…
For up to date business hours visit “R” Hours Page…..We hope to see you dockside!
We’re already hooked on the idea of a great walleye season..
With the temps finally headed in the right direction and with every passing day we cannot think about anything but the one that got away (AND the one’s that didn’t). It’s time to talk fishing.
Reel good news….
Last year’s boating season allowed us to see some of the largest Walleye catches in a decade. The thing that was even more exciting to anglers is the amount of Walleye caught that were just too young to keep and had to be tossed back. Meaning, this season could shape up to be one for the record books as those fish mature.
Tarter Sauce sales expected to rise…
Even though it is only February, you can already feel the anticipation when our fisherman stop in to renew their docks. It is like they kept track of the number of toss-backs in those hot-spots and are chomping at the bit to get back out there.
Now these pics are what we call the greatest hits of 2017 (that we had a chance to view).
Yet most every weekend at our gas docks you can see that the theme here is one of excitement for anglers in the coming season. So grab your favorite tackle box and pole and mark those calendars, Spring is just around the corner.
Believe us, it’s not just “Fishfull Thinking”… Time to get hooked!
The times, they’re a changing…
Just like the cartoon of Sherman and Mr. Peabody, we like to get into our own version of the Wayback Machine as we update our web presence here at Romps.com. With required updates to our website this week (making viewing it more secure) we thought it would be fun to take a look back all the way to 1996 with the first Romps.com and beyond.
The World Wide Web that we weave….
Above you can see Romps.com v. 1.0. This would be our basic site for another three or four years and served us well. The docks actually bounced when you put your mouse over them. One mistake we would later regret was having our email in plain text on the surface. Alot of spam came our way.
Next up was Version 2.0 pictured below.
We stuck with this site from the late 90’s to the early 2000’s.
Around 2003 we shifted gears and styles with a fresh paint job and Romps.com v. 3.0 (below) was born. This site was actually done by a graphic artist we found online in Germany of all places. The images rotated every second in the pic on the right.
Of course v. 4.0 (below) was next, with Bloging/News added to the front page. This was in May of 2013.
Next on deck was v/ 5.0, our personal favorite. The fish in the background swam as you scrolled down and a worm on a hook would drop down as well. This site served us from 2014 until 2016. But sadly, the author of the page template no longer offered updates.
Which led to v. 6.0 in 2017… And a more back to basics approach. This site was easier for phone and tablets to view.
And finally v. 7.0 for 2018. Why the switch so soon? Well, the new requirements of internet safety have us using a more secure system to display our content for you. Notice the “Secure” feature in the address bar. This will become more important for small businesses sharing information like ours in the future.
We hope you enjoyed our brief trip down memory lane and look forward to you stopping back here often for news and updates.
Till then, we hope to see you dockside!
And another week closer to spring…
With a blanket of white on the ground and some seasonably mild temps, why not take time to enjoy Valentine’s Day with that special someone. We always look forward to this day as a countdown mark on our march toward spring and the boating season ahead.
Say something sweet, maybe with some candy..
This little tidbit below was sent to us and we found it both funny and sweet (pun intended). Though as a word of advice, you may want to get something a little less humorous as an actual gift. For the romantics in all of us…
Finally, we just want all of our Captain’s and Crew to know that we are working toward getting the marina ready so at the very first sign of spring we can get back to boating. In the meantime if your wondering where your boat would like to spend the summer, give us a call we would love to show you all we have to offer.
After all the saying goes, “All you need is love, but a little boating never hurts”;
We hope to see you dockside!
