Happy Labor Day..Celebrate by not Laboring!

Just Chill’n and Grill’N

President Abraham Lincoln once said that “Labor is the superior of capitol” and boy did he get that right. As all the hardworking folks who dock at Romp’s can attest, this weekend is well deserved time off from the daily grind and, more importantly, time to relax and have some fun.

laborday

Labor Day also brings with it a change in seasons at our home-port. This may be the last weekend of the season for the pool as it closes for the year sometime in the following week. So we hope you get out and make a splash!

Finally, we also have to add that Putter-Port will be open from 11am to 10pm Sat-Sun-Mon this weekend, then will close for the season as well. So now is the time to get the crew onto the back 9.

Tide Down? Go see the dock….

“A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it.” — Robert Orben

Day after day of sunshine and hot temps has us on the water even more then usual this summer. As August winds down it leaves us with a month of great boating weather to remember it by. We can’t wait for September, and with it we hope the Perch make a comeback as we transition from tubing and skiing to fishing.

Be Safe..Have Fun..You can do both.

Summer fun, safety, and you….

This week the Governor of Ohio has pleaded with the public to wear masks and keep practicing social distancing for everyone’s safety. Here at your homeport we have plenty of space to keep your distance from others and relax at the same time.

tower-covid
You will notice we have the pool furniture limited and separated well over 6 feet apart, plus cleaned and sanitized whenever unoccupied. The same with the Restrooms, we have them on a tight cleaning schedule as well. Plus, most of the marina activity is outdoor and in open space for you to enjoy. We just ask you add a little caution to your plans until things get back to normal.

Here is a great way to social distance..

We hope you enjoy this great summer weather… We all deserve some time away from life’s stresses.

That even the Walleye are wearing sunscreen…

What a week here at your homeport as temps have been in and around 90 for several days now. Of course that also means that the lake has been as flat as Aunt Bee’s pancakes. Even the fisherman have had success as the Walleye continue to be plentiful despite the warmth.

You call it a jet ski. We call it a boater-cycle…

With a forecast like the one we have for the coming days it is definitely time to make a splash. So tune out, turn around, and drop by the dock for some well deserved time off from these crazy news cycles.

Happy Birthday America, you look great for any age; to the greatest country on earth we salute you. Freedom and Independence built this country and we hope you get a chance to enjoy a day of both here at your home-port this holiday!

This land is your land…

And although Vermilion would normally have its fireworks season during the Fish Festival, recent Covid precautions have cancelled that event and the fireworks as well. There will still be some fireworks from Cedar Point for you to view if traveling on the water this weekend as they celebrate their 150 year anniversary. All we need is some favorable lake conditions. On another quick note, Vermilion Road is southbound only for travel to and from your family fun marina, so take note on this busy holiday.

The Sun has been shining all week and fortunately the seas have been calm as well. Even the fish are cooperating as the Walleye hauls continue to amaze us. All in all the beginning of Summer was just as it should be.

In fact you don’t even have to leave the dock, Dad can hang out at the pool, cookout on a grill or just relax in a picnic Shelter swapping fish stories about the one that got away. Or take the whole gang for a splash at the beach… It’s Dad’s Day!
