The marine forecast, of course.  We will still get our part ready as the pool is prepped, and Dairy Dock still has all the delicious treats you will need to keep you cool. Or maybe just a nice day dockside with friends. It’s all here at your Family Fun Marina.

This land is your land…

And although Vermilion has already had its fireworks season during the Fish Festival, there will be more from nearby Huron or Cedar Point for you to view if traveling on the water this weekend. All we need is some favorable lake conditions. On another quick note, Vermilion Road is southbound only for travel to and from your family fun marina, so take note on this busy holiday.

Oh, and remember sunscreen!

As we all know the marina has docked hundreds of boats that are full of gasoline, our environment is not suited for any type of fireworks. So we ask that for the safety of all of our Captain’s, Crew, Guests and their property; that fireworks on Romp’s Property are strictly prohibited.

We’re bug’n

The circle of life has hit at your homeport, the very food our great fishing season depends on has arrived by wing as the MayFlys are here at last. While they can be a little anoying, they are a sign of a healthy lake and, more importantly, the food that next years Perch and Walleye depend on. Plus, their visit is short, just a day or so.

Sometimes all you need is a little Vitamin Sea….

Have seen the weekend forecast? Let us show you a preview of coming attractions. Below is an image taken last night by our own Jeff B. We’re hoping it’s enough to “tide” you over until you can leave work and get dockside for your own sunset cruise.

Summer day

Did you know?

We thought you might also find this interesting, below you will find the importance of boating to Ohio’s economy. Boating and Lake Erie make up a sizable portion of our state’s income. As you can see that the majority of boat owners are not the rich and famous, but working class folk like us enjoying the great outdoors. Of course you will also notice the percent of Power Boats in the chart below,  a source of pride here at your family fun marina. From our friends at the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

Now onto the good news..

Please note: Vermilion Road remains Southbound only, all Northbound traffic should use Baumhart Rd, or Rt 60 to Liberty Ave. Thanks!

It’s Officially Summer..Keeping it Reel.

Shell-abrate good times…

One can only hope that the soggy spring is behind us as tomorrow starts the official beginning to Summer and with it, we hope, a sunny disposition. Like this sunset from just this last Friday…

R sunset

You light up my life…

Here at your homeport we did manage to have a couple of winners in the Festival of the Fish boating contests. One of our favorites is the winner of the lighted boat parade, the Rini family and their festive Lyman luau boat, complete with hula dancers.

Now the Big Bang theory…

Our service department shared with us a cautionary example of what happens when a boat owner leaves boat batteries hooked up all winter, allow them to go completely dead then force a charge into them. Lets just say we are glad it worked out, fortunately no one was injured and R crew was able to get this boat back on the water with minimal damage.

We are always happy to check out batteries prior to launch, or better yet, have us store and install them for proper care. Take the worry out of boating

Another “We’re Hooked on Success” story…

Last but far from least, here is yet another example of what happens when you have hard work, determination, a boat, and plenty of worms; all summed up in a pic. Below is a successful day Walleye fishing from the Ferut gang. As you can see there was some heavy lifting to do, plus the expense of extra tartar sauce loomed heavy after this day on the lake. Congrats!.. and thanks for sharing.

We’re hooked on June!…

First up, Cops and Bobbers…

With the Summer just starting and only the second weekend of June coming up, we want all of our Captain and crews to be stay safe on the water. Emphasis this time of year with various law enforcement will be safety checks for proper equipment and life jackets; but also with a keen eye out for impaired boaters. Alcohol coupled with high temps can lead to accidents which may otherwise be avoided. So be safe out there, and know that you can stop by our local Vermilion Police Boat when officers are present and they will perform a safety check free of charge so you are well prepared for Summer fun.

Because Sun days are meant to be fun days…

Stop wishing, Start Fishing

This already has been a season for the ages with some very big walleye seen in coolers all around the marina. Case in point… Look at this whopper.

Fishing has been so good, that we are now accidentally catching them with our travel lift (see below)… Don’t worry we put him right back in the water, and he swam away unharmed.

Somethings Fishy at your homeport….

From the “R” orange cones are better then theirs dept..

First up, we wanted all of our Captains and Crew to be aware that Vermilion Road (Right next to Dairy Dock) is southbound only for road repair and resurfacing. This will effect all inbound folks who use this path from Route 90/2. So beware the orange cones.

Instead we want you to know you can still come by Baumhart Rd, Sunnyside Rd, and Route 60 north to Liberty Ave.

Important News for “R” Customers…

Well it would not be summer in Ohio if the orange cones were not present. Starting Monday, Vermilion Road will be southbound only as they pave the street for the next several weeks. Folks coming to the marina should take the Sunnyside Road north and then can continue to head south on Vermilion Rd to the highway when they head home. You can also use both Baumhart Road and State Route 60 exits northbound as well.

Launch, Launch, Launch the boat…

Finally, launch season is here and we are starting to see boats head to their natural resting place at the dock. Romp’s office is now open 9am to 4pm seven  days a week, stop by and let us help you get your spring services in ship shape.

On a safety note, we are starting to see some worn cords so be sure to check yours before plugging in. A worn cord can cause electrical damage to your boat and also is a potential fire hazard to both you and your dockmates.  This image below is not a sad emoji, it is a dangerous cord that should be discarded for new.

Stay safe, stay afloat, and we hope to see you dockside!
