Painting quite a picture of things to come….
The last full week of April was kind to us as the sun was out early on and the temps are back to normal. We are already looking forward to the first day of May next week. The boats, well, the boats are making quite a splash around here. Launch season is in full swing at your homeport. Soon the place will look pretty as a picture (like the one below).
Our spirits are “Bouy-ed” by recent temps…
We are working hard to get the pool in shape and even the Putter-Port will soon undergo a season opening cleanup so both will be ready for Memorial Day Weekend.
Launch Orders and You…It’s all about “Oar”-ganisation
Now, if you haven’t already, you may want to get your ship in shape by planning what you need for launch. Then check off what services you want on your launch order, and pick a week to make your own splash down.
We will take it from there. Have questions or need to help filling out your order? We’re here to help. Just contact us or stop by, we are open weekends (both days ) from 9am to 5pm. We hope to see you dockside!

Put a little Spring in your step!
Of course with a gust of warm weather this week we were feeling optimistic and uncovered the pool, another sign of the good things to come.
In other news..
On a safety note for dock holders; if your dock has items left on the dock from previous owners, or you feel items may be an obstacle and need removed, just let us know. For those folks attaching items, please contact us for guidelines so you do not damage your dock (drilling/fastening into the steel is prohibited).
We are always happy to help out.
Hop on in to Double D..
For Dairy Dock fans we will be open Sunday, so you can bring every bunny to the dock for an Easter Treat.
Have an Egg-ceptional Easter Weekend from your friends at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina!
What goes a hundred smiles per hour?…
Dairy Dock on opening day. Even though the wind was a bit cool for our opening, we sure are happy about the welcome site of folks enjoying their ice cream yesterday. It is always exciting to welcome the town back to the dock.
Who was the first? Chris Lehky for the second year in a row.
Important News for “R” Customers…
Well it would not be summer in Ohio if the orange cones were not present. Starting Monday, Vermilion Road will be southbound only as they pave the street for the next several weeks. Folks coming to the marina should take the Sunnyside Road north and then can continue to head south on Vermilion Rd to the highway when they head home. You can also use both Baumhart Road and State Route 60 exits northbound as well.
Launch, Launch, Launch the boat…
Finally, launch season is here and we are starting to see boats head to their natural resting place at the dock. Romp’s office is now open 9am to 4pm seven days a week, stop by and let us help you get your spring services in ship shape.
On a safety note, we are starting to see some worn cords so be sure to check yours before plugging in. A worn cord can cause electrical damage to your boat and also is a potential fire hazard to both you and your dockmates. This image below is not a sad emoji, it is a dangerous cord that should be discarded for new.
Stay safe, stay afloat, and we hope to see you dockside!
“Cone”-gratulations are in order…
Within a couple of hours of now, an annual Vermilion tradition returns signaling the official start to our “Sweet Season” here at your home-port as Today, Thursday Dairy Dock opens (April 11th) at 11:30am.

Have a Delicious Day!
We’ve been waiting on the sun…then it dawned on us.
We are excited to say boats are in the water here at your home port. Who was the first boat in at the dock your ask?
Well, there are actually two firsts. Sloppy Joe of Nite Bite Charters was first in the water and at the dock as he ramped his own in. Our first launch of the season belongs to the Helm’s Crew , pictured below on the way to the water.
More sun on the way, more boats to float…
With any luck the cold grip of winter has finally given way to the hope and warmth of Spring. Meanwhile dockside, dock boxes are now out ready to stow your gear, dockside electric is on.
UPDATE -4-5-19: The dockside water is on. The forecast looks like freezing evening temps may finally be over, so we were able to turn on water systems this week for your convenience.
Also, the gas docks are now open during Store/Office hours.
“R” Hours and Yours…
With the start of April our current hours are 10 am to 4pm seven days a week at the marina. It won’t be long until we get that on as well, so stay tuned. The Gas Docks are in, but the pumps are not hooked up yet, we hope to have that done in the coming week as well.
All in all we’ve has a good start to spring and the best part is yet to come at your favorite Lake Erie Marina!

Now Open Saturday’s…It’s quite an oar-deal.
Moreover, now is the time to start to “Think Spring” and get your plans ready. To help you find where your boat would like to spend the summer, we are now Open Saturdays from 10am – 3pm.

And another week closer to spring…
With the blanket of white snow melted away and some seasonably mild temps, why not take time to enjoy Valentine’s Day with that special someone. We always look forward to this day as a countdown mark on our march toward spring and the boating season ahead.
Say something sweet, maybe with some candy..
This little tidbit below was sent to us and we found it both funny and sweet (pun intended). Though as a word of advice, you may want to get something a little less humorous as an actual gift. For the romantics in all of us…
Finally, we just want all of our Captain’s and Crew to know that we are working toward getting the marina ready so at the very first sign of spring we can get back to boating. In the meantime if your wondering where your boat would like to spend the summer, give us a call we would love to show you all we have to offer.
After all the saying goes, “All you need is love, but a little boating never hurts”;
We hope to see you dockside!
A big “THANK YOU” to the City and Ice Breaking Crews..
As we awoke today, for the first time in several weeks we found the Vermilion River to be free of ice and for that we are grateful. Winter can be a tricky time to navigate within the river community, we are especially thankful that the City of Vermilion and South Shore Dredge and Dock have worked very diligently in keeping the ice flows under control.
Pictured below the last of the ice flowing out.
Breaking up is hard to do…
As you can see the crew from South Shore really had some work to do chomping up the ice as it passed.
All’s well that ends well…
Here at your homeport, you can see what ice in the channel is melting on it’s own under some of the mild temps this week. Now, we can look forward to the approaching spring!
