Next Up..”R” Open House and Snow Much Fun!

We’re up to Snow Good….

We all know that the cold weather just makes us appreciate the warm that follows. Before you know it, we will start to think about putting boats in and hopefully forget all this single digit frigidness of the past week. That said, we are Snow Happy to see you, so.

There’s Snow Place Like Home!

So what can we do about this in the meantime? How about a little get together for all of our Captain’s and Crew to reassure and remind us all of better days ahead.

Join us at Romp’s Open House (aka “It’s the Snow Life” Party)  this weekend January 26 & 27 from 11am to 2pm. We will be serving Hot Dogs, & Ice Cream Sundaes (yes, Dairy Dock Ice Cream in the winter as we will have a machine up and running) and all your favorite beverages. Plus, door prizes every half hour and even a little gift full of treats.

New Year, New Boating Season…

Everyone here at your homeport wishes you a great 2019, and can’t wait to get the season started. Year after year folks start a new year’s resolution right about this time. but what if we told you we have a healthy one that the whole family can enjoy!

happy new year

Resolve to go boating!

That’s right, forget the fad diets and signing up for a year at the gym when you will only go a time or two. This time resolve to get the whole family into the great outdoors, and really take advantage of all the things our area has to offer on the water.

Yule love time with family…

It’s that time of year again, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost etc, and we are very much looking forward, as we do every year, to spending some of that Christmas time with our family and friends.

But before we break out the eggnog, we better get you up to speed on what that means.

Starting Saturday Dec 15th we will be closed and will be taking a couple of weeks off, we will return on January 2nd.

We will still be in and out of the marina daily, so if you need us just email or call and leave a message and we will get back to your promptly.

We hope you get Gold, Frankincense, and so very much Myrrh!

Other then that we are ready to make Merry and hope that you are too. We wish all of our Captain’s and Crew the very best this Christmas, and so many, many good things to come in the New Year!

So stay warm, stay safe and enjoy your time with family, we will see you next year!

The Daily Grind…why it’s a good thing!

From the “Stitch in Time” dept…

So the short days of Winter have started to show up along with some chilly temps at your home-port. Among the top questions we get this time of year is “What do you do in the winter, go to Florida?“.

colder lake erie

Repair, Repaint, or Replace..

Florida? well, not exactly, in fact we are busy grinding, welding and painting docks, repairing boats and upgrading the marina in various ways from lighting to equipment repairs, and so much more.

You can see we really “Scrape” by…

Every year we take pride in getting the Marina ready for the next great boating season. As well as getting some of our captains in ship shape for the voyages ahead. Though we do take some time off at Thanksgiving and Christmas, the rest of the time we are right here at your home-port prepping for the days to come.

There’s a reason we’re thinking of next season…

So we hope this answers the question of what a marina does in the off-season. The answer is look forward to the ON season (as in ON THE WATER) . Thanks for stopping by!

Turkey Time Approaches…Some news to Gooble up.

Docks are out, and now is time we give Thanks!

Frost is on the ground, though no ice covers the channel yet, the skies are showing signs of the weather to come. The chilly cold remnants of fall are setting in as we are out and about putting the marina to bed for the winter. Next will be several weeks of maintenance as we have some repair work to do dockside, yet we are already thinking of next season.

Even though it’s dark earlier and earlier we try to remind ourselves it’s always darkest before the dawn and the sun never really sets on a great boating season.

A Fall to Leaf You Happy!….

A season of Pumpkins and Spice, plus Perch on ice

The first full week of Pull-Out season has come and gone yet we are just getting started in the Boats to Land dept. This week saw some unseasonably and very warm temps, then a cool down by weeks end. It is the time of year where the weather can be unpredictable as it transitions from one season to another.   Yet, we always look forward to the colors.

Leaf here feeling happy…

With the lake temps still in the high 60’s it has been a challenge to find our Perch friends and invite them to dinner. If the coming weeks could bring some cooler weather it would help in the hook-line-and-sinker dept. Of course while we wait on the next big catch, there is no better time then now to start planning your fall pull-out needs.

Temps will eventually fall with the leaves..

The one thing we can all count on, is in the near future the temps will fall; the question is will you be ready when that day comes? Just stop by and let us help you get in ship shape before the “end of October” rush. We are open both Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm and Weekdays from 9am to 5pm as well.

We can walk you the various options of Pull-out so you can rest easy knowing that your boat is all ready for its Winter slumber.

Because in Ohio, there’s always another season around the corner….
