We’ve been waiting on the sun…then it dawned on us.
We are excited to say boats are in the water here at your home port. Who was the first boat in at the dock your ask?
Well, there are actually two firsts. Sloppy Joe of Nite Bite Charters was first in the water and at the dock as he ramped his own in. Our first launch of the season belongs to the Helm’s Crew , pictured below on the way to the water.
More sun on the way, more boats to float…
With any luck the cold grip of winter has finally given way to the hope and warmth of Spring. Meanwhile dockside, dock boxes are now out ready to stow your gear, dockside electric is on.
UPDATE -4-5-19: The dockside water is on. The forecast looks like freezing evening temps may finally be over, so we were able to turn on water systems this week for your convenience.
Also, the gas docks are now open during Store/Office hours.
“R” Hours and Yours…
With the start of April our current hours are 10 am to 4pm seven days a week at the marina. The Service Department is open from 8 am to 5pm as the service crew is very busy this time of year out fixing boats. If you need service please call or stop by the office, we can schedule your work. Or if you have questions feel free to visit us on the weekends as well. We are here to help.
We hope to see you dockside!
Dairy Dock returns..It was Mint to be.
First up, we were very excited to announce on our Facebook page yesterday, and to share with you today the return of Dairy Dock in just a few weeks, on April 11th. We cannot wait to get the sweet tooth satisfied and the summer started.
Launch, Launch, Launch the boats, gently down the stream…
Likewise, we also spent the week getting the rest of the docks in and are prepping for the upcoming Launch Season. You should be getting your Launch Orders in the mail, we have them in the store/office as well if you need one.
Have questions about the services you require? Just stop in and let us help you fill your order out, we are open both Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 3pm to assist you in having a hassle free spring. Plus the coffee is free!
A little of this…a little of that.
Dock boxes will start to go out this weekend, dockside electric is on, but dockside water will have to wait until the freezing overnight temps subside. It won’t be long until we get that on as well, so stay tuned. The Gas Docks are in, but the pumps are not hooked up yet, we hope to have that done in the coming week as well.
All in all we’ve has a good start to spring and the best part is yet to come at your favorite Lake Erie Marina!

The boating season is just around the corner here at our lake erie marina, in fact you should be getting your launch orders any day now. Plus, the docks are in, Gas Docks soon to follow as we get excited to put the marina back toward “Summer Mode”.

It’s kinda difficult to imagine it with the white stuff falling from the sky, but better days are just around the corner here at your favorite Lake Erie Marina. We can’t wait to go from this (left) to this (Right).
Now Open Saturday’s…It’s quite an oar-deal.
Moreover, now is the time to start to “Think Spring” and get your plans ready. To help you find where your boat would like to spend the summer, we are now Open Saturdays from 10am – 3pm.
Snow Joke, we’ll be here!
Now that February has officially drawn to a close we are hoping you have a chance get out of the house and stop by and see what we have to offer. We would like to show you around and talk boating to see where your Crew wants to drop anchor. Launch is drawing closer by the day. Plus the coffee is on us!
We hope to see you dockside!
And another week closer to spring…
With the blanket of white snow melted away and some seasonably mild temps, why not take time to enjoy Valentine’s Day with that special someone. We always look forward to this day as a countdown mark on our march toward spring and the boating season ahead.
Say something sweet, maybe with some candy..
This little tidbit below was sent to us and we found it both funny and sweet (pun intended). Though as a word of advice, you may want to get something a little less humorous as an actual gift. For the romantics in all of us…
Finally, we just want all of our Captain’s and Crew to know that we are working toward getting the marina ready so at the very first sign of spring we can get back to boating. In the meantime if your wondering where your boat would like to spend the summer, give us a call we would love to show you all we have to offer.
After all the saying goes, “All you need is love, but a little boating never hurts”;
We hope to see you dockside!
A big “THANK YOU” to the City and Ice Breaking Crews..
As we awoke today, for the first time in several weeks we found the Vermilion River to be free of ice and for that we are grateful. Winter can be a tricky time to navigate within the river community, we are especially thankful that the City of Vermilion and South Shore Dredge and Dock have worked very diligently in keeping the ice flows under control.
Pictured below the last of the ice flowing out.
Breaking up is hard to do…
As you can see the crew from South Shore really had some work to do chomping up the ice as it passed.
All’s well that ends well…
Here at your homeport, you can see what ice in the channel is melting on it’s own under some of the mild temps this week. Now, we can look forward to the approaching spring!
Party like it’s 19 (or 9) degrees…
Our first order of business is to thank all of our Captain’s and Crew for visiting with us this weekend, we had a great time and can’t wait to “SEA” you all soon! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
A very “CONE-vincing” start to the year!
It was also a treat that for the Second time in Marina history we fired up a Dairy Dock machine and served Ice Cream in the winter. That could be a neat tradition, because sprinkles are indeed for winners!
So next up is the wait for spring, it cannot come soon enough and when it does we hope to see you dockside!
We’re up to Snow Good….
We all know that the cold weather just makes us appreciate the warm that follows. Before you know it, we will start to think about putting boats in and hopefully forget all this single digit frigidness of the past week. That said, we are Snow Happy to see you, so.
There’s Snow Place Like Home!
So what can we do about this in the meantime? How about a little get together for all of our Captain’s and Crew to reassure and remind us all of better days ahead.
Join us at Romp’s Open House (aka “It’s the Snow Life” Party) this weekend January 26 & 27 from 11am to 2pm. We will be serving Hot Dogs, & Ice Cream Sundaes (yes, Dairy Dock Ice Cream in the winter as we will have a machine up and running) and all your favorite beverages. Plus, door prizes every half hour and even a little gift full of treats.
So mark you Calendar because its a Snow Day (for Boaters)!
Also, new Captains and Crews looking for a place to drop anchor next summer, please feel free to stop by, we would like to show you all we have to offer. We hope to see you dockside!
New Year, New Boating Season…
Everyone here at your homeport wishes you a great 2019, and can’t wait to get the season started. Year after year folks start a new year’s resolution right about this time. but what if we told you we have a healthy one that the whole family can enjoy!
Resolve to go boating!
That’s right, forget the fad diets and signing up for a year at the gym when you will only go a time or two. This time resolve to get the whole family into the great outdoors, and really take advantage of all the things our area has to offer on the water.
Or just keep it reel!
Or maybe just resolve to spend some quiet time away from all those electronic gadgets. Now is the time to plan, and to stop wishing, start thinking fishing! Just you and some peace and quiet out on Mother Erie.
Rock the Dock…
You don’t even have to leave the marina to enjoy some time in the sun! You can make a splash with friends and family this year!
New Year, New You…
So resolve just to relax, and enjoy what is already here, here’s hoping we see you dockside!
Yule love time with family…
It’s that time of year again, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost etc, and we are very much looking forward, as we do every year, to spending some of that Christmas time with our family and friends.
But before we break out the eggnog, we better get you up to speed on what that means.
Starting Saturday Dec 15th we will be closed and will be taking a couple of weeks off, we will return on January 2nd.
We will still be in and out of the marina daily, so if you need us just email or call and leave a message and we will get back to your promptly.
We hope you get Gold, Frankincense, and so very much Myrrh!
Other then that we are ready to make Merry and hope that you are too. We wish all of our Captain’s and Crew the very best this Christmas, and so many, many good things to come in the New Year!
So stay warm, stay safe and enjoy your time with family, we will see you next year!
