Mild February has us thinking Spring!..

Sure it may not last, but we will take these mild temps in the 60’s as a pre-cursor to what could be a very nice Spring and Summer ahead. And it won’t be that long before this pic below is next on the agenda –\/

In fact the warm weather has some of our Dairy Dock fans sending us reminders that there’s some sweet tooth work to be done as they look forward to the Ice Cream stand opening.

Here is a pic sent to us yesterday making a “Cone”-vincing argument as to when we should open.

So hang in there, Spring is just around the corner….soon it will look like this at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina.

Wishing our Captain’s and Crews a very Happy New Year!

Here’s hoping that the 2017 boating season is a great one. We are very blessed as a family to have the best Captain’s and Crews on Lake Erie, and we also hope that your New Year’s Resolution involves more fun in the sun with family and friends!

So here’s hoping that this year is every bit as good as the very best. Our family wishes all of our dockers a very safe and prosperous 2016 and can’t wait to get past these cold months and get the boating season underway!

Happy New Year from the whole crew at your favorite Lake Erie marina at Romp’s!

This Christmas give your captain a gift that will really float his boat!

We know what your thinking, the boats are out and cold weather is here to stay. To that we say there is no better time then to start planning next summer! What if you could give the someone you love the gift of the great outdoors, of family activity and an escape from the stresses of life.

148621_10151322253335155_1305595473_n

You can! Instead of buying a gift that your captain or crew member will open and be done with, or worse yet have to return, get them a Romp’s Gift Card! It works similar to a pre-paid visa in that you get a credit card sized gift card that you can use for the following:

  • * Dockage and Winter Storage
  • * Gas and pump-out services
  • * Beer, Pop, Ice, Snacks, and Romper Room Food!
  • * Putter Port Passes (purchased through our store with no extra fees)
  • * Dairy Dock Ice Cream Tokens (purchased through our store with no extra fees)
  • * Service on your boat including launch, pull-out, tune-ups, oil changes, even electronics rigging.
  • * Guest passes for the pool.
  • * Safety Gear, flares, life jackets etc.
  • * Boating cleaners and supplies.
  • * Most anything we sell!*

With no extra fees! That’s right a $25 gift card costs $25, a $50 gift card $50, and so on. You name the amount, we load the card, add a boat and some water, mix in some warm weather and stir; wa-laa! Smiles ensue! The card holder can use all of the amount at once or a little at a time.

So this Christmas give the gift that will continue to put a smile on your captains face all year long. The gift of boating.

(*Some restrictions apply, all purchases have to be made at Romp’s marine store/office, please contact Romp’s for more details. Romp’s Gift Cards are good only at Romp’s Water Port, Inc.)

“R” hours and yours…the times they are a changing.

It’s that time of year…the last of the boats are being pulled today and tomorrow, then the docks soon follow them to shore. So we have some changes in our office hours to announce as daylight slowly decreases here at your home-port.

R-hrs-2

The Marina Store/Office hours are now 10am to 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The Store/Office will be closed on weekends. The Gas docks are closed for the season (thanks to all who support us all summer long, we really appreciate your business).

The Service Dept. is open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

If you are interested in a dock for next season and would like to visit us during off hours, please contact us and we will be happy to meet you at the marina and show you what we have to offer.

Thanks everyone for a terrific season!

Official end to the season as last days of boat pulling arrives…

If the forecast holds true, we should have some nice weather for both the Cleveland Indians and our captain’s and crews to work on their boats this weekend. It’s been a very busy time here at your home-port with temps slowly falling with the leaves as ships migrate toward shore.

img_20161026_075712_969

While we still have some boats to go, we want you to know that this will be the last weekend the ship’s store/office will be open on weekends. We will go to a weekday only schedule starting October 31st.

With only a couple of days of pulling left, we will soon start removing docks and prepping the marina for the winter months ahead. So if your a captain still floating at the dock, please make plans to have your boat taken out prior to Thursday November 3rd.

We thank everyone for a great boating season, it was a very, very good one!..We had a lot of fun and hope you did too.

Fall into Romp’s…for your boat winterization needs

It has already been quite an Indian summer and yes we are talking about both on the baseball field and off it, like here at your homeport.

img_20161010_075357_872

Yet, with all the warmth we have had this fall already, don’t be fooled because the cold weather could come knocking any day now. Now is the time to put the final plans on your winter prep schedule and get your pull-out order turned in to the office so we can get you on the schedule to be pulled.

Because it may be sunny today….but wait 5 minutes…it’s Ohio. Best to be ready well ahead of the weather.

img_2306

Just like the change in the seasons, change is happening here at your home-port as well. We are slowly pulling boats and putting them in their winter resting places, albeit in some great conditions as the weather has been in the mid 70’s and sunny all week.

img_2417

But don’t let these mild temps fool you. Now is the time to get your pull-out arrangements in order. Let us help you by stopping by the marine office and going over the details of your pull-out order. After all, the best planning is done with plenty of time before it is needed.

So while the sun is still shining stop in at your home-port and let us help you get your fall plans in order before the sun sets on the boating season. We are here to help and hope to see you dockside!

Wind, Waves, and Woollybears….Your weekend forecast.

The Vermilion Woollybear Festival and Parade takes place this weekend downtown. Visitors to the festival have numbered near the 100,000 mark during peak years when the weather is cooperating. We know there is a bit of a soggy forecast for Sunday but want our boaters and guests alike to be ready for this event and the large number of visitors it may draw to town.

2016-wb-date-flier-1

For full WoollyBear info and schedules visit VermilionOhio.com

Our boaters should know that the marina will be accessible throughout, there will be members of the local Soccer Club parking cars for the public here on the property. This will not effect Romp’s Lake Erie Marina customers as parking will remain open and unhindered.

However, with that many people coming to visit we recommend that you either come to the marina early, before 9am, or after 1pm as the hours between will be peak traffic times on Vermilion’s streets.

Did you know that the thickness of the rings on the Woollybear is said to predict the severity of the winter? While we wait for the official Woolly Worm forecast, here’s the official one from the National Weather Service, (hint: Bundle up, it could be a cool one)
