More from the Shore….Docks making a splash at your homeport!

What nice weather we have had this week. Taking advantage of a little sunshine and some mild temps we were able to get started putting the docks in, as we inch closer toward launch.

Of course this is just the very beginning, but compared to last year where we were waiting for ice to melt, we are feeling good about getting an early start to spring.

Another sign of spring arrives very soon for Romp’s Captain’s and their crews as Launch Orders are coming soon to a mailbox near you. So you will have plenty of time to think over your game plan for splashdown.

Finally, for those of you looking for a place for your boat to call home. We are now Open Saturdays from 10-3 stop by and let us show you what we have to offer!

Hope to see you dockside!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day…It ain’t easy being green!

We want to wish all of our captains and crews a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s hoping the road does indeed rise up to meet you, yet the lake lays down before you. Here at your home-port we are getting more and more excited to start the boating season. So chase your rainbows, and soon you can chase the Sun.

Despite cool temps and gray weather folks will be out in big numbers, so be please be careful when you celebrate. And for those who are looking for a place to drop anchor, we are open Saturday from 10-3 and we will have coffee ready for the day after. See you dockside!

This weeks forecast… Cloudy with a chance of floating docks!

Sure that may sound silly, but we get pretty excited here at your home-port when we hear that splashing sound of docks going back in the water.

And while the photo above will not win any awards for color or photography in general, it sure looks great to us because it signifies the beginning to what we look forward to the most…. The boating season.

Of course we hope you are now making plans to do some splashing of your own this coming summer, and we have just place for you anchor those family plans.

So stop by and see all that we have to offer your crew this boating season.

We are now Open Saturday’s from 10-3 to serve you better….We hope to see you dockside here at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina.

Now Open Saturdays….So “March” On In!

First some news we are proud to share; this past week we were awarded the Ohio Clean Marina designation for the 10th year in a row. Why is this important? Well it shows you our voluntary commitment to preserving the environment so everyone can enjoy clean water for boating and fishing activities.

That said, with each passing day we are also inching closer and closer to seasonable temps, and with it plans for a spring launch. Right now we are working on launch orders so we can get them in the mail in hopes that when the thermometer goes up, the docks can go in. While it may seem early yet to talk of launching boats, these things have a way of sneaking up on the unprepared.

After all, it won’t be long and the river will look like this again!

So if your out and about and you want to talk spring and launch, or if your new to boating and your looking for a place to call your home-port stop in and see why Romp’s is Lake Erie’s Family Fun Marina.

We’ll have the coffee on for you!….We hope to see you dockside.

Open 10am to 3pm Saturday!

Mild February has us thinking Spring!..

Sure it may not last, but we will take these mild temps in the 60’s as a pre-cursor to what could be a very nice Spring and Summer ahead. And it won’t be that long before this pic below is next on the agenda –\/

In fact the warm weather has some of our Dairy Dock fans sending us reminders that there’s some sweet tooth work to be done as they look forward to the Ice Cream stand opening.

Here is a pic sent to us yesterday making a “Cone”-vincing argument as to when we should open.

So hang in there, Spring is just around the corner….soon it will look like this at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina.

We’re thinking warm thoughts…we hope you are too!

We know that this time of year can be a long stretch of days while you anxiously wait for the warmth of spring to arrive. So why not start planning your summer fun now?

You can always start by going over your checklist of things you will need long before Summer arrives.

First and foremost, of course, is “Where would my boat like to spend the summer?” If you haven’t picked a home-port yet, make sure to give us a call. We would love to show you what we have to offer your family and friends.

Then you may want to ask yourself questions about the basics like “Are my flares up to date?”, “Will I need my boat bottom painted or touched up?”, “Do I need a new lifejacket or two?”. It’s the captain who starts to think spring and make a list that has a leg up when the warm weather does arrive.

So as the long days of February melt away into March and then April know that we are already thinking warm thoughts as we prep for a great boating season and hope that you are too.  We hope to see you dockside!

Happy Valentine…to the one that floats your boat!…

We would like to wish everyone a very happy St. Valentine’s Day this coming Tuesday. As everyone knows that there is nothing more romantic then long sunset cruises on Lake Erie during those great summer evenings, though you will have to remind your significant other that the boating season is not that far off.

In a couple more weeks,  there will be plenty of time to start planning those great times together outdoors with loved ones. Maybe you can get them some flowers or candy as a reminder such as these.

Either way, we know that it’s a good time for couples to show their appreciation for each other and wish everyone a great day. After all it was the Beatles that said, “Love is all you need”, and who are we to disagree with that, Enjoy!

Ground Hog Sees His Shadow…. 6 more weeks until the party starts!

So the groundhog came out and saw his shadow. Sure it can be tough to hear that we have 6 more weeks of winter, but we all know that just beyond that forecast lie some better days ahead. After all it’s weather like this that will make us appreciate the warm days of summer even more.

So why we endure the next couple of weeks of February, get your mindset pointed toward spring and start thinking of all the things you’ll need to get done to get on the water.  The time to launch will be here before you  know it.

Even though we are not yet open on weekends, we welcome you to email us and we can set up a visit that meets your schedule. We would be happy to show you what we have to offer during hours or after hours.

So hang in there boaters…….It won’t be long and we will be able to leave winter in our wake!

Happy Birthday….to us!….We celebrate 60 years of boating fun and business.

We are happy to announce that Romp’s Family Fun Marina turns a whopping 60 years old this year. That is a full six decades and three generations of Romp’s family, plus all of our great employees, and thousands of boaters who have spent their family time here at your home port. (our founders Rob and Peeps Romp on the left, Bill and Molly Romp on the right)

And we’ll share the secret to our success with you, it’s having the best customers in the world, as we well know a business is only as good as the customers it serves.

So we give thanks to all things, big and small, that made the last 60 years such a great time for our family and employees, and look forward to many, many more serving your family. After all, we’re not just a business, we’re boaters! We hope to see you dockside!.
