What a weekend! Flat lake forecast with warm temps…

Mother Nature has been very kind to us this weekend as we look out there is both plenty of sunshine and a flat lake for boaters to enjoy. With temps forecast in the mid to upper 80′s for both days and no rain in sight, captians and crews get a chance to enjoy a seasonably exceptional weekend. Nautical forecast below.

Music and a Sunset…Third Thursday Starts Tonight!

The beginning of summer arrives tonight in downtown Vermilion with the town’s Third Thursday event tonight. For those of you not familiar with Third Thursday, it is a celebration which has various musical performers stationed throughout the town and, of course, flowers along with a great sunset all totally free of charge!

So take a minute from your hectic schedule to walk downtown Vermilion and hear everything from a barber shop quartet to vintage Grateful Dead tunes and much more tonight in Vermilion.

Early bird gets the worm, then fishes with it!

As you can see in the photo below, the anglers are up and at it early in the quest for the perfect catch. As warmer and warmer days arrive the boats are headed toward the water.

We here at Romp’s have plenty of great spaces to choose from for the captains and crews who have yet to settle on a port. Not only does the marina have many great amenities from pool to picnic shelters, but the town of Vermilion has events going all summer long. Music, Movies in the park, sunsets and fine dining all within walking distance of Romp’s.

There’s a big cover up…in Vermilion!

We awoke this weekend to the iconic Vermilion River Bridge hidden away under cover. For those of you who haven’t been to town in awhile there is a lot of sprucing up going on about the city in celebration of the town’s 175th birthday.

Part of the ongoing repairs and rejuvenation include the painting of the Vermilion River Bridge and the Water Tower. Seen above the paint crews have constructed a “catch all” cover to stop any material from getting near the water or car traffic.

As seen here the Water Tower is also due a face-lift courtesy of the Vermilion Port Authority and generous donations from citizens.

So we as both boaters and motorists have to use some extra care navigating this summer as all this activity takes place, for in a little while the town will look the best its been in decades!

Just a quick reminder, tomorrow we will be holding a boat auction for a chance to purchase a 1996 28’ Baha Cruiser 278 Fisherman at what should be a great price.

We’ve spent some time getting it all polished up for the auction at 2pm Sunday (near the Romp’s Putter Port).

We’re uncovering more signs of summer!

The pool was uncovered today as yet another sign of the summer fun to come not to very long from now. Though it is not quite operational, it sure looked good after a long winters nap.

Everything is on pace for a great Memorial Day Weekend opening so get your swimsuit out of storage, it won’t be long now.
