Wind, Waves, and WoollyBears….Your weekend forecast.

The Vermilion Woollybear festival and parade takes place this weekend downtown. Visitors have numbered near the 100,000 mark during peak years when the weather is cooperating. We know there is a bit of a soggy forecast for Sunday but want our boaters and guests alike to be ready for this event and the large number of visitors it may draw to town.

Our boaters should know that the marina will be accessible throughout, there will be members of the local Soccer Club parking cars for the public here on the property. This will not effect Romp’s customers as parking will remain open and unhindered.

However, with that many people coming to visit we recommend that you either come to the marina early, before 9am, or after 1pm as the hours between will be peak traffic times on Vermilion’s streets.

Turning up the heat at your homeport…your weekend forecast.

Well, if the weatherman’s predictions hold true this weekend may be the first time in a while that we flirt with temps in the 90’s. That kind of heat is just what boaters look forward to, as it usually means splashing both in the lake and poolside at your homeport.

Launch the boats, Launch the boats, Launch the boats…

As you can see we have three things on the to-do list. Well, with the onset of warm weather we have quite a bit to-do but thankfully it all focuses on getting the boats in ship-shape and in the water. That’s great news as all week we have been servicing and launching all manner of vessels.

IMG_20150501_154305_678

In fact, some of the early birds have enjoyed quite a bit of flat lake already. Here was Thursday:

IMG_20150429_074321_765

So if your now thinking Launch, let us help you. We are open weekends to aid you in filling out your launch order or answering any questions you may have. And if your still looking for a place for your boat to spend the summer, then by all means stop by and let us show you what we have to offer at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina, we would love to be your home-port!

See you dockside!

Luck of the Irish!

422926_10150717963570155_1557237227_n

We want to wish all of our captains and crews a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s hoping the road does indeed rise up to meet you. Here at your home-port we count ourselves to be very fortunate to have gone through a very tough winter and the subsequent thaw and ice flow without incident.

IMG_20150317_080137_102

As you can see in the picture above the ice is turning to very thin slush and with it we are inching ever closer to putting the docks in.

Which means this will not be far behind.

5eba91-IMAG2113

So enjoy your corn beef and cabbage and know that it won’t be long until we kick things off here at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina. Because as every boater knows, there may not be a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, but if your lucky enough to be on a boat on a calm lake, you’re lucky enough!

We hope to see you dockside!

Warm thoughts for Cold Days….

There’s an old saying that goes “The future always holds a chance for improvement” and no where is this more true then during an Ohio Winter. Here at your Homeport we are soooooo looking forward to the Boating Season just around the corner, we literally can’t wait.

Digital Camera Exif JPEG

In fact today we’re here to remind you of some warm thoughts, of Summer fun at here Romp’s, of kids playing and days fishing and relaxing on the lake. That with the heat of summer the cold memories of winter will melt away. This, we hope, will help get you through these winter blahs.

2f6fad-IMAG1690

So even though the white stuff may be blowing and piling up outside, just know that it won’t be long until we are right back in the swing of things here at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina. We look forward to serving all of our captains and crews and above all promise to not make a single complaint about the heat this summer, not one!

Digital Camera Exif JPEG

So hang in there, summer will arrive on schedule and when it does we’ll be ready, we promise!

Despite the cold, we’re thinking Spring..

We know that it’s hard to think warm thoughts when Mother Nature keeps piling on the cold. But we’re here to tell you that there will be a spring and we are sooooo looking forward to it.

IMG_20150211_115108_712

So why the winter blahs may have you in their grips for the moment, just remember that it won’t last forever and when summer finally shows itself, we here at your home-port will be ready for all your boating needs. After all, there is no better medicine to beat the wintertime blues then some good old sunshine and making a splash or two. We hope to see you dockside!

Happy Valentine…to the one that floats your boat!~

We would like to wish everyone a very happy St. Valentine’s Day this Saturday. As everyone knows that there is nothing more romantic then long sunset cruises on Lake Erie during those great summer evenings, you will have to remind your significant other that the boating season is not that far off.

84e43b-heart-tower

In a couple more weeks,  there will be plenty of time to start planning those great times together outdoors with loved ones. Maybe you can get them some flowers or candy as a reminder such as these.

Either way, we know that it’s a good time for couples to show their appreciation for each other and wish everyone a great day. After all it was the Beatles that said, “Love is all you need”, and who are we to disagree with that, Enjoy!
