Wind, Waves, and Woollybears….Your weekend forecast.

The Vermilion Woollybear Festival and Parade takes place this weekend downtown. Visitors to the festival have numbered near the 100,000 mark during peak years when the weather is cooperating. We know there is a bit of a soggy forecast for Sunday but want our boaters and guests alike to be ready for this event and the large number of visitors it may draw to town.

2016-wb-date-flier-1

For full WoollyBear info and schedules visit VermilionOhio.com

Our boaters should know that the marina will be accessible throughout, there will be members of the local Soccer Club parking cars for the public here on the property. This will not effect Romp’s Lake Erie Marina customers as parking will remain open and unhindered.

However, with that many people coming to visit we recommend that you either come to the marina early, before 9am, or after 1pm as the hours between will be peak traffic times on Vermilion’s streets.

Did you know that the thickness of the rings on the Woollybear is said to predict the severity of the winter? While we wait for the official Woolly Worm forecast, here’s the official one from the National Weather Service, (hint: Bundle up, it could be a cool one)

fall-hours

With the passing of Labor Day Weekend we know that the inevitable would happen. Kids go back to school, families start to get busy with all kinds of activities and the summer fun starts to wind down.

to-erie

While the sun may not have completely set on the boating season, as there is a lot of fishing left to be done with the perch season upon us, we do have changes to announce.

The first of which is that our Putter-port, Pool and Romper Room are closed for the season. We thank everyone for their generous support as the summer season was a great one.

Next, up will be Dairy Docks last night, which is Sunday Sept 11th. So be sure and get your sweet tooth the last treat of the season.

Finally, our store/gas dock hours will be reduced due to our staff heading back to school and being involved in many school activities. The store and gas dock are now open 9-5 seven days a week (during the week the gas dock and pump-out are self serve)…

Labor Day Weekend Arrives…Celebrate by not working!

You’ve worked hard this year and like everyone who puts in their time you deserve to enjoy the fruits of that labor. After all, that’s what Labor Day weekend is all about. We are here to celebrate you, and you, and you. All the hard working men and women that make this country great.

IMG_2696b

So kick back, relax and do something you enjoy this weekend, and for our captains and crews that means one more trip (or two) onto the Lake. This will also be the last weekend for the pool, so be sure to make a splash!

3b1371-IMAG1359

We are excited to have a three day weekend with what looks like a pretty favorable forecast for boaters and anglers alike.

IMG_2332-c

Or you can always go after the perch, you know they are starting to hit…so get the tarter sauce ready. Either way we certainly hope you get a chance to relax and we hope to see you dockside at Romp’s Lake Erie Marina!
