The Cav’s are not the only bright spot in Northern Ohio, according to the weatherman we are headed back toward some very sunny days and nice seas this weekend. Another chance to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
We hope that you get a chance to relax here at your home-port as we will be ready for you to make a splash dockside.

We know a little about Father’s Day fun here at your home-port, but as if sunshine and a flat lake on Father’s Day wasn’t already great, Labron James and the Cav’s topped it off with the best Father’s Day gift of all time. The Game 7 win was so big here in North East Ohio, that even in little Vermilion we have to pause and say WOW!
So, from all of us here at your home-port we just wanted to say thank you to the boys in wine and gold. After 52 years our part of Ohio certainly deserved to catch a break, and for that we are thankful.
After all, Sprinkles are for winners!
This weekend has a lot of fun on tap. First we have three days of merriment at Vermilion’s own Festival of the Fish presented by the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce.
The fun starts with Fireworks Friday night, then follows with a weekend featuring fun food and booths of all type, a parade with Fire Trucks, a crazy craft race, and a lighted boat parade.
Plus you can actually avoid the bait and waiting for the bites and just buy a perch sandwich right at the festival!
Then, of course, we can’t forget Dad. Romp’s dockers stop by dockside and buy dear ole’ Dad a
Romps Famous Cheeseburger hot of the grill. And we’re not talking gas or propane, but old fashion charcoal like Dad used to make. Saturday the 18th at 11:30 till the coals get cold, in the Romper Room.
So it’s all Fun, all weekend!

We know this weekend has a lot going on, so get ready to light up the end of your work week. On June 17th, the Fish Festival committee will presenting it’s annual FIREWORKS! This exciting event will take place right off of Vermilion’s own breakwall at the entrance to the harbor.

Due to safety, and the fact it will be held at the mouth of the Vermilion River there are some issues that all boaters should be aware of. The details below were provided by the Festival of the Fish committee and the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce:
- Due to the safety of this event we are asking spectators and boaters to take a look at the map (below) of the area and please be aware of our safety zones that will be set in place.
- The west entrance to the Vermilion River will not be accessible once the fireworks are placed on the break wall. We are asking that boaters use the east entrance to navigate both in and out of the Vermilion River .
- There may be traffic interruption, click the chamber link above for details.
- The fireworks display is set to begin at dusk.
- There will be five to six temporary buoys set up 500’ around the detached break wall and boaters are permitted to watch the fireworks show on the north side of these buoys.
- Both attached piers the one by Main Street Beach and the other by the Lagoon’s beach will be off limits to spectators.
- The fireworks display will be visible by personal boat on the Lake, Main Street Beach and Festival area.
- Festival organizers thank you in advance for understanding and hope you get a chance to attend this event.
So get ready to get a real bang out of your summer!
We know it’s a busy time of year with graduations and typically the wedding season gets in high gear as well, but we want you to know that when your ready to get away from it all, we’re here!
There is something about getting outside and in nature that has a calming effect in our world of beeping and buzzing technology. Maybe you just need to hear the sound of water lapping against the side of your boat as you send some worms out on hooks to get the big one. Or jump right in and splash around a while in our heated pool. Either way, it good to take a break and that’s what we here for.
We hope to see you dockside!

Sure we know the headline pun is silly, but this has to be one of the best starts ever to Summer as we are basking in some all time warmth here. The weather for last weekend’s three day Memorial Day Holiday was just about perfect for both anglers and pleasure boaters alike. The water temp in the 60’s even had some folks making quite a splash by jumping in the lake.
So if you are still on the bubble about where your boat would like to spend the summer, let us show you all we have to offer as the clock has started on a lot of boating fun here at your home-port.

As we take time this weekend to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our country, we are also excited that the boating season arrives at last. Mother Nature may sprinkle in a pop up shower, but the time has finally arrived for some hot-hot-heat and the flat lakes of summer.
We have been busy as bees getting the marina ready as starting Saturday Putter-Port returns, the Romper Room opens, and the Pool opens as well. See the side column for “R” hours.
Plus, we will always have your favorite flavor of Ice Cream here at your home-port! So be sure to join us this weekend as we celebrate and thank the servicemen and veterans for their service to this great nation and offer remembrance of those we have lost.
We hope to see you dockside!….
Sure it’s Northern Ohio and we just saw a tad bit of snow last weekend. But hey, you’ve waited the customary 5 minutes and now the Sun is a shining! In fact over the next couple of days there looks to be a lot of it with more on the way.
In fact next week the forecast even calls for near 80 degree temps! And that means, it’s time to get the boat launched and the season underway.
So if you have been one of the Captain’s dragging your feet about launch, now’s the time to stop by and let us get you back in ship-shape. We will be launching full go to make sure everyone is floating and all is ready at your home-port. Don’t miss the boat; let us know how we can get your launch plans ready before memorial weekend rolls in.
We hope to see you dockside!
Also, here are the official Dairy Dock hours as some 3rd party sites may have out of date or inaccurate information about us.
Also, for best results…just add water!.. We know it’s kinda campy, but we are pleased that despite a week of up and down weather we were able to make quite a splash at your home-port with boat after boat headed toward the docks.
With every boat we launch the marina starts to look a little more like summer.
We know it’s only the first week in May and the weekend forecast looks a little on the chilly side, but we want all of our captains and crew to know that the sunny days are right around the corner.
So if your still debating what needs done to get your boat ready, stop by and let us help you get your launch order filled out so you can be the next vessel sitting at the dock in ship-shape, ready to go.
We will be open 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday and hope to see you dockside.
And we think keeping a marina on track can be challenging at times, we know that being a Mom is the top job on the planet. So, with that in mind, why not give mom something she can enjoy all summer. That is a summer of fun at your family fun marina!
The boating season is just about here, so don’t delay. Give Mom a summer at the pool and the kidos can enjoy all the other fun from Ice Cream to Mini-Golf, plus some splash time on the lake! Not only that but we are pretty sure Dad wouldn’t mind some time out in the water as well.
To all the Moms out there, we salute you and know that we’ll be right here dockside when your ready!
